Merdeka People – PT Natura Nuswantara Nirmala (Nucleus Farma) has conducted research for its product called Onoiwa MX, which was published in an international medical journal in Europe.
Nucleus Farma CEO Edward Basilianus stated that the research was published in the European Journal of Molecular & Clinical Medicine, 2021, Volume 8, Issue 3, Pages 2945-2957, in July 2021.
“Onoiwa MX has also passed ethical testing in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association-Declaration of Helsinki,” Edward said in his statement on Monday (12/7).
Nucleus Farma claimed that Onoiwa MX is useful as an adjuvant to standard Covid-19 treatments for early-stage patients. The main active ingredient in Onoiwa MX is snakehead fish extract.
The study involved researchers and practitioners who are experts in their fields, including Prof. Dr. apt. Syamsudin, M.Biomed, a Professor of Pharmacology of Natural Ingredients from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Pancasila University; Dr. Lusi Nursilawati Syamsi, Sp.P, a specialist in pulmonology handling Covid-19 patients; Dr. rer. nat. Chaidir Amin from BPPT; and Dr. Nurita Andayani, a statistics expert.
Prof. Syamsudin explained that in processing the extract, Nucleus Farma used an enzymatic low-pressure, low-temperature technique. This is a patented process of Nucleus Farma.
The aim of this technique is to reduce the particle size of the extract (small molecule supplements) and to maintain the stability of active substances.
“This patented process uses an enzymatic reaction that breaks protein bonds more effectively, ensuring proper supplement delivery to the target cells,” he explained.
The use of Onoiwa MX as an oral albumin can help maintain plasma oncotic pressure and transport drug metabolite molecules into cells. Onoiwa MX can also serve as an alternative to intravenous albumin for emergency room and inpatient doctors.
“This is supported by findings from a research journal titled Serum Albumin-Mediated Strategy for Effective Targeting of Sars-Cov2 by Pushpendra Mani Mishra in 2020, which referenced albumin as a therapeutic treatment for Covid-19, as it is effective as a drug carrier for targeting Sars-Cov2,” he added.
However, he clarified that there is currently no cure for Covid-19. The treatments used, including antivirals and antibiotics, only alleviate symptoms. In addition to medications, preventive measures like the government’s vaccination efforts are being implemented.
In this study, it was noted that the use of an adjuvant is not a replacement for Covid-19 treatment but rather a supplement.
In such situations, where there is no effective medication to eliminate the Coronavirus, the combination of Channa striata, Curcuma xanthorrhiza, and Moringa oleifera in Onoiwa MX can inhibit viral fusion and entry into cells.
Meanwhile, other drugs internalize targeted viral components and signal cells to stop the virus’s spread.
Recent research for SARS-CoV2 infection treatment on PubMed has revealed the potential of traditional medicines in treating Covid-19, with turmeric’s curcumin showing high potential for neutralizing viral activity, and moringa leaves proving effective in boosting the body’s immunity.
